The Central Anatolia region occupies the part located between the two folded mountain regions in the heart of Turkey. It is characterized by a plateau geological nature surrounded by parallel mountain ranges. It is home to the city of Ankara. The capital of the country and the second largest city, it covers a wide area of land in central Turkey, and most of its territory consists of endless steppes. Due to it being home to many different civilizations throughout the ages, the region is filled with an amazing collection of historical monuments and archaeological sites.
