Concentrated in an organic fabric around the bazaar area at the bottom of the valley and on the valley slopes in the north of Ankara, Ayash houses are typical of traditional Turkish houses in terms of architectural features. In general, two-and-a-half-storey houses built of timber have sheds, basements, and servants' rooms in large houses on the ground floor, and on the upper floors, which are the main living areas, there are two or three rooms, as well as spaces such as the kitchen, bathroom, and toilet.
