Padua is a city in the Veneto region of northern Italy. It is famous for Giotto's frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel and the extensive 13th-century Basilica of Saint Anthony. The basilica, with its Byzantine domes and notable artwork, contains the tomb of the saint of the same name. In the old town of Padua there are arched streets and elegant cafés frequented by students of the University of Padua, founded in 1222.
