The Bulgarian Renaissance Museum and Constituent Assembly is housed in an old 3-storey Turkish building in Veliko Tarnovo, built in 1872 by Mr. Kolyu Ficheto; A famous Bulgarian architect from the Renaissance period, the building was converted into a museum in 1985, and the museum exhibit includes Christian arts during the Ottoman period, such as icons, woodwork, documents and collectibles related to the economic development of Tarnovo in the Renaissance, the famous Bulgarian revolutionaries and the peoples of the region who fought for Liberation during the period of Ottoman rule, and on the third floor there is a model of the Constituent Assembly Hall, the place where the first Bulgarian constitution was drawn up and signed in 1879.
