Information about Artuklu Palace
The Artuklu Palace or Artukid Palace (Turkish: Artuklu Sarayi) was the seat of the Diyarbakir branch of the Artucid dynasty, the Turkish region of Belek that ruled eastern Anatolia and the island in the 12th and 13th centuries. The palace was located in the present-day district of Ikali, within the city walls of Diyarbakir. It was built during the reign of Nasir al-Din Mahmud (1200-1222) and was partially excavated in the 1960s. The main body of the palace is still buried under the hill today.
