Münster is an independent city in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It is located in the northern part of the state and is considered the cultural center of the Westphalian region. It is also the capital of the local government region of Münsterland. Münster was the site of the Anabaptist Rebellion during the Protestant Reformation, and the signing of the Treaty of Westphalia that ended the Thirty Years' War in 1648.
