The Indian city of Madurai, or as it is called the city of temples, is one of the oldest residential cities in the world, the third largest city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, and is one of the few architectural models that have survived to this day. The city is characterized by a distinguished strategic location, as it is located on the banks of the Vijai River, which makes it an important trade link, and it is a major settlement two thousand years ago for the indigenous people who moved through the country by wars and invasions. The city is famous for its rich heritage, which is clearly reflected in the buildings and temples that date back to the fourth century BC, and through its roads and streets, which have survived to this day. The city is also characterized by a beautiful nature that includes mountains, plains and rivers.
