Batroun is considered one of the oldest historical and touristic cities in the world, dating back about five thousand years. It is a coastal city located in northern Lebanon, about 50 kilometers from the capital, Beirut. The city has a number of churches of different historical Christian denominations. Batroun is one of the most important sea resorts because its beach is considered one of the cleanest rocky-sandy beaches in Lebanon, surrounded by orchards famous for its delicious citrus fruits. It is also famous for its lively amusement parks, cafeterias and restaurants. The most delicious food is served on the main street of the city. The city of Batroun carries out recreational and artistic activities in the summer, and in 2009 the “Batroun International Festival” was held for the first time, and it began hosting local and international artists in July and August of each year, in the old port area of Batroun.
