Surrounded by the stunning landscape of the Pyrenees to the south and the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean to the east, the region is filled with amazing natural bounties. While most of the area is dominated by vineyards, farmland and rural villages, the wild beauty of both the Cevennes and the Pyrenees National Park is simply stunning, and there is so much more. Hiking and mountain climbing trails are available to visitors. History is also not that far away in Occitane; While the main cities of Toulouse and Montpellier are fun to explore, the real attractions are the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne, the Roman ruins of Nimes, the pilgrimage site of Lourdes and the charming old town of Albi.
