The Place de la Capitole is the largest square in Toulouse, located in front of the Capitol, the city hall and the theatre. It is a large rectangular square previously entirely occupied by buildings, and its popularity began to grow in the mid-18th century when the current stunning facade of the Capitol was built. It has been inhabited for nearly a century, and the square bounded by heights was not uniformly completed until after 1850, and today it is considered the heart of the city, with a wide range of restaurants, cafes and upscale shops, and a vibrant atmosphere.
