Fayoum Governorate is one of the governorates of Egypt and its capital is the city of Fayoum. Fayoum is considered a miniature image of Egypt. Some even call it Little Egypt. This is because it has many features that are found in Egypt. For example, Egypt lives on the Nile River, and Fayoum also depends on a canal. Bahr Youssef, Fayoum has an agricultural community, an industrial community, as well as a Bedouin community, and there is even a fishing community on the banks of Lake Qarun. The name Fayoum goes back to the origin of the word, which is “bayoum,” meaning “pool of water,” which was changed with usage to Fayoum. The governorate is famous for the presence of many distinctive places, including Lake Qarun, which has beautiful views, Wadi Al-Rayyan, and many other tourist attractions.
