Thóva was designed by Icelandic artist Ólöf Nordal who sought to create a place of serenity and contemplation in the bustling capital. The plot is a large dome-shaped, grassy mound with a walking path surrounding it from above. There is an old fishing pen of the type historically used for wind drying fish, as a nod to Iceland's history. Fishing has been the lifeblood of the country for centuries, and Icelanders have been working in the tumultuous seas and harvesting their catch for food, clothing and oil.
