Information about The Living Art Museum
The Living Art Museum is a non-profit museum and platform for innovative and experimental contemporary art in Reykjavik. It is committed to presenting, collecting and preserving the work of Icelandic and international artists and engaging with the discourse on contemporary art practices. It was founded by a group of twenty-six artists in 1978 as the first artist-run non-profit organization in Iceland. It initially started as a group to preserve and archive artworks by artists who were ignored by the public and artistic authorities at the time; The founders were a diverse group of artists at different stages of their careers, primarily associated with the fluxus movement and conceptual art.
