Information about The Berest'ye Archeological Museum
The Archaeological Museum of Beresti is unique in Europe, as it enables its visitors to see an archaeological site showcasing an authentic East Slavic wooden town dating back to the 13th century. The museum was opened in 1982 and displays 28 preserved wooden cabins, in addition to more than 1,400 artifacts dating back to the tenth and fourteenth centuries. Today, this unique museum displays archaeological finds that give a glimpse into historical civilizations, their arts, trade and the daily life of the local people. The museum's collection also contains some truly unique artifacts such as an oak plow and a boxwood comb with carved Cyrillic letters.
