Information about The Kholm Gate
Kholm Gate is one of the main gates of Brest Castle, which was originally built in the 19th century during Russian rule as one of the four gates. The exterior facade, facing the southern branch of the Mokavits River, was designed in a classical style with spiers. Brest Castle was the site of fierce fighting during the defense of the city, and during the war the facade of the Kholm Gate was badly damaged, but it has remained relatively intact compared to the rest of the castle and is one of the two surviving gates. After the war, the gate was given the status of "Hero's Castle" as part of the Brest fortress.
