Information about Silifke Ataturk House Museum
The Atatürk Silifke House Museum, a two-storey house in the public park of Silifke, was built in 1914, using wood and stone materials. This building, which was confiscated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1982, was restored and opened to serve as the Ataturk House Museum. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk visited Silifke four times because of his work in the establishment of cooperatives and farms and his local excursions, and a marble monument and statue were erected near Tashkupru in his honor, but this was not enough, and attempts were made to build a library and museum in his name. Ataturk spent the night in it during his first visit to Silivki in 1925 AD, to be a museum dedicated to him. In it, all the property of the room in which Ataturk stayed, documents related to the establishment of cooperatives, visiting photos and newspaper reports, are displayed, and there are also local ethnographic items in the museum.
