St. Peter and Paul Church, also known as Barboi Church, was built between 1841 and 1844 by the great Chancellor Dimitrie Sturdza on the site of another ancient church built by President Ursu Bărboi in the early 17th century. Created by architect Andrei Caridi, with the help of artisans Anastasie and Gheorghe, it is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, and has an architecture inspired by Greek Orthodox architecture, with some Byzantine and neoclassical elements on the facade.
