It is a Roman Catholic church dating back to the thirteenth century, dedicated to Saint Maria Assunta and seat of the Bishop of Padua. It was built in the ancient Roman architectural style, and has a picturesque interior design, where the walls are adorned with many frescoes by the artist Giusto de Minabui (Giusto de' Menabuoi) dating back to the medieval period, along with many different inscriptions and decorations that fill the interior surfaces of the building. The church also contains a simple ornate interior altar.
