Information about Observatory of Ulugbek
Ulugh Beg Observatory is one of the most famous landmarks in the city of Samarkand. The observatory was built in the year 1420 by the Timurid astronomer Ulugh Beg, and many Muslim astronomers worked in it, such as Al-Kashi, Ali Qoshji, Aluk Beg and others. Large parts of the observatory were destroyed in 1449, but the Soviets restored it in 1908. The observatory building is distinguished by its imposing architecture that combines Islamic and Soviet styles.
