The settlement of Afrasiab is the oldest archaeological site in the city of Samarkand. The history of this settlement dates back to the first millennium BC. This settlement was built on high ground for defensive reasons. Visitors will find ruins of castles, forts and majestic frescoes in it. Most of the other discoveries were transferred to the Samarkand Museum. The area of this historical settlement is approximately 220 hectares, and the thickness of the archaeological layers reaches 12 meters, which means that many wonderful civilizations passed through it.
