The Museum of the People of Guanajuato is located in the old house of the Marqués de Rayas, which has an archaeological character. It was opened as a museum in 1979 AD, and since then it has housed the best expressions of popular culture; Among its collection is an important collection of miniatures, artifacts, representative painting and many more pieces that testify to the historical and artistic wealth of Guanajuato. The museum also contains the José Chávez Morado Room, which displays religious works of the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as traditional portraits.
