The Education Museum was established in 1974 as an educational and cultural research institution, and is concerned with the search, collection, research and promotion of cultural values related to educational development in Bulgaria. It is the only museum of its kind in Europe with its permanent exhibition on the history of education in Bulgaria from the ninth century until today. The western wing of the first secondary school “Aprilov”, whose building was designated a cultural monument in 1979, the museum exhibition is located on an area of 435 square meters, including 4 halls and 4 restored antique rooms, and displays the relationship between the Bulgarian school and the social, economic and cultural development of the country through the centuries.
