The Church of Madonna Dodo is also known as the Church of the Maica Precesta, which means the Immaculate Mother in Romanian, and its name derives from the 17th-century icon of the Blessed Virgin in Dod (Roman mulberry), and was built between 1758 and 1760 Brankovino-style on the site of an old wooden church, which housed many properties, shops, and the first hospital for people with mental disabilities in the area, but was completely destroyed in an earthquake in 1838.
