Information about Ibrahim Palace
The Archaeological Ibrahim Palace, Ibrahim Castle, Al-Kut Palace, or Al-Quba Palace is one of the most important monuments of Al-Ahsa city in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is located north of Kut and was the main headquarters of the Ottoman garrison in the province of Al-Ahsa in Hofuf, which was affiliated with Basra at that time. It was controlled by King Abdul Aziz Al Saud on April 13, 1913 AD, during his annexation of Al-Ahsa. The construction of the palace and dome mosque began in 1571 AD, then it was expanded to include the castle, a prison, and Turkish baths. The General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage completed the restoration stages in all parts and facilities of the palace in March 2019, which included rebuilding the fallen parts, painting the buildings and repairing and leveling the square opposite the palace in order to be a venue for holding events and tourism festivals. Ibrahim Palace covers a very large area of about 16900 m, and it mixes Islamic and military construction. Its massive construction, and its upper outskirts, give it the shape of ancient castles. And the mosque is wonderful in its inscriptions and construction. The architectural style of the palace consists of a religious and a military style.
