It is a monastery located in a secluded corner of the Cathedral of Saint Andrea and called Deir El-Jana, an elegant building in the Arab style built between 1266 and 1268, whose splendid edges are rounded with vaulting supported by 120 slender and blunt double columns and surrounded by a garden full of palm trees and flowers. The monastery was built by Archbishop Filippo Augustaricchio, who is remembered by most for the "great good he did for his country" and the "countless traces" he left for posterity, as ancient historians recorded.
