The Sheikh Al-Afif Mosque is located near Taqah Fort. It is the largest mosque in the city. It has a stunning engineering design and a heritage Omani style. It is also considered one of the oldest mosques in the Dhofar Governorate. It was built more than 400 years ago and has been renovated several times since then. The last of which was in 2019, and the mosque has elegant and spacious interior courtyards that accommodates a large number of worshipers, and also includes a private prayer hall for women.
