Jericho, or as it is called, the city of the moon, is one of the historical Palestinian cities. It is located near the Jordan River and north of the Dead Sea, about 36 km east of Jerusalem. It is one of the oldest cities in the world and the lowest at a rate of 258 m below sea level. The city is famous for agriculture and the abundance of orchards and agricultural crops due to its fertile clay soil and the availability of water in it, which makes it produce agricultural crops throughout the year. The most characteristic of the city is its warm climate in winter, which makes it an excellent winter resort, and its very hot climate in summer for recreation and water sports such as swimming. The city is considered one of the most important tourist destinations in the West Bank in Palestine because of the forms of entertainment it provides, in addition to many valuable archaeological and historical monuments. Among the most important archaeological monuments in it are Tell Al-Sultan, Hisham's Palace, and the shrine of the Prophet Musa. Among the activities worth experiencing in Jericho is a visit to Wadi al-Qilt, which extends 45 km through the hills between Jerusalem and Jericho, to practice mountain climbing and hiking in the lap of wonderful nature.
