Dar es Salaam is the former capital of Tanzania and the largest city in the country in terms of population, with about 3 million people living in it. This city is located on the eastern coast of the country overlooking the Indian Ocean. Dar El-Sam enjoys a high degree of autonomy, as it is managed in a semi-autonomous manner. Many Arab merchants settled in this city and mixed with its inhabitants, and they learned their Bantu language, while they taught them the Arabic language, and with time the two languages merged to give rise to the Swahili language. The Arabs have migrated to Dar es Salaam since the Umayyad era, and they settled and frequented it to trade goods between the Arabian Peninsula and East Africa. Therefore, you will see that the Islamic religion is spread among the inhabitants of this city. And you will find in the city a lot of Islamic monuments due to the long period in which they settled in the country. The city's climate is characterized by being hot in summer and mild in winter, so tourists prefer to visit the city in the fall and winter seasons. Among the most famous industries in the city are cotton, textile, cement, and building materials.
