The Dar es Salaam War Cemetery is located on the right side (east/coastal) of Bagamoyo Road which goes northwest along the coast and is about 5 km from the city centre. The cemetery contains 1,764 Commonwealth cemeteries who died in World War I, 60 of whom are unidentified, while the graves of the other 112 nationalities date back to World War I. The cemetery also contains the Hindu Dar es Salaam memorial, which commemorates 14 Indian soldiers who were cremated. according to their faith.
