The federal city of Bonn is located on the banks of the Rhine and is the largest urban city in Germany, with a population of more than 11 million, the most famous of whom is Beethoven, who was born and lived in the city. Bonn was founded in the 1st century BC as a Roman settlement, and is one of Germany's oldest cities. The city has many castles, historical and archaeological sites, and museums, as well as modern shopping centers, hotels, galleries, palaces, art museums, parks, and others. Bonn is one of the important cities in Germany because of its political importance, both in the ancient era and at the present time, as it was considered the capital of southern Germany before the unification country. The city has the Post Tower, which is the tallest building in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which houses the headquarters of the German Post and DHL.
