The state of Setif is located in northeastern Algeria. Its name in Arabic means “black soil,” and it is called locally “the capital of the high plateaus,” thanks to its distinguished location on the plateaus of the Morghres and Babur mountains. It is distinguished by its integration into the Arab-Islamic civilization, and this is evident in its mosques and ancient buildings. Designed in the Islamic style, the region is also filled with Roman ruins and oases spread throughout its vast desert areas.
