The Cordoba Zoo opened in 1967 and was one of the first official zoos in Spain. The zoo underwent a massive restoration process between 2003 and 2007 and is now very well known for its research in order to preserve different animal species. It's a urban zoo so it's not huge, but it does have beautiful gardens and recreational areas. It is home to about 200 different species of animals, including tigers, elephants, zebras, hippos, jaguars, lemurs, llamas, bears, monkeys, and reptiles. The park also contains a café and gift shop, as well as several galleries.
