Information about West Blatchington Windmill
The West Blachington Windmill is a Grade II listed smoke mill in Brighton in the historic county of Sussex, England, that has been restored and is open to the public. Built in the 1820s, it first appeared on a Greenwood map of 1823. It was drawn by John Constable in 1825. A mill is hexagonal in plan, while most smoke mills are octagonal. It was in operation until 1897, when two sails were damaged. It has been preserved as a major landmark of the place and the windmill was a polling station for the Hove precinct in the general election.
