Information about Wat Plai Laem

A lively and active Buddhist temple complex, featuring an impressive image of Guanyin, the Goddess of Compassion and Mercy. Worshipers come daily to commemorate Guanyin and Buddhism. Guanyin worship dates back to ancient China, but its influence stretched across East and Southeast Asia generations ago, and intricate temple designs by one of Thailand's leading artists were exhibited. Surrounding the goddess are two long halls featuring colorful murals and frescoes depicting mythical stories. This temple is relatively new, but the technical techniques used to build it date back centuries and depend on ancient beliefs. In addition to its quiet character, the temple is surrounded by a lake teeming with fish.
