Information about Torre dell'Elefante
Torre del Elepante, or as it means "the Elephant Tower", is a medieval tower located in the historical district of the Castello district of Caleri. The tower was built in 1307 by the architect Giovanni Capula. The purpose of the tower was to fortify the city after the Uruguayan conquest of Sardinia. The tower was built of limestone and four logs. The tower also has a gate, which is still the main entrance to the Castello district. It is surrounded by a group of small statues, including the elephant statue, which the tower takes its name from. It is worth noting that the height of the tower reaches about 31 meters.
