Information about Palazzo Regio
It is a historic palace located in the historical district of Castello in Cagliari. The palace was originally built in the 14th century at the request of Peter IV and has been the residence of the Viceroy since 1337 AD. Between 1799 and 1815 the palace was the official residence of the royal family and the court. The building has undergone many restorations and modifications throughout the ages. In the year 1730, the grand staircase leading to the main floor of the palace was added, and then the main entrance was decorated with inscriptions and decorations by 1769 AD. The palace attracts tourists with the frescoes that adorn the walls of the palace by the most famous painters.
