The Martyr's Monument was built in 1982, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Algeria's independence and to honor the heroes who perished in defense of the country for independence. The monument, which is 92 meters high, consists of three palm leaves that meet in the middle, and an Islamic tower with a diameter of 10 meters and a height of 7.6 meters. It is also topped by a 6-meter dome. On the edge of each leaf stands a statue of a soldier, each representing a step in the struggle for Algeria's independence. There is a basement, an amphitheater and a museum for the Mujahideen below this monument.
