The Freedom Monument is located within the walls of the ancient city of Nicosia, and is one of the most important archaeological attractions. The monument was erected to honor the Greek Cypriots who fought for their independence against British colonial rule, and consists of brass statues representing, in a well-detailed and well-designed manner, men and women of different ages being released from prison and seeing the light of day after years of imprisonment. Undoubtedly, the Freedom Monument has become an immortal symbol of the struggle and hope for freedom of the Cypriot people.
