Housed in a historic building built in 1748 as an office for the Austrian Empire, the Provincial Art Museum houses a permanent exhibition entitled "Baia Marie Art Center - European Landmarks Between Traditions and Innovations" which presents nearly 400 works created exclusively by artists who have worked since 1896 In the Baia Mare School of Painting, along with a collection of galleries presenting drawings, sculpture and decorative arts (more than 3,300 pieces), with representative works of the Baia Mare Center for the Arts established in 1896.
