Information about Tartus Museum
The Tartous Museum is one of the Syrian museums that has a great religious status and has remained throughout the ages, as it was initially a Christian church. The history of this building dates back to about 1105 AD, but it was completely destroyed after the area was subjected to a huge earthquake, which prompted the concerned authorities to issue a decision to restore and rehabilitate the area after its ruin lasted for long periods. This museum includes a number of collectibles that were placed in it after it was restored, and its external structure is characterized by the beauty of its view, the accuracy and the splendor of its design, as it consists of a number of wings and floors, and each wing displays a number of different materials and collectibles. Of the historical monuments dating back to previous eras, while the other main wing contains a number of antiquities that date back mainly to Islamic times, and tourists come to this museum from all over the world.
