Information about St. Joseph's Cathedral
The Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hidalgo, which is a Catholic religious building in the city of Tula de Allende in the state of Hidalgo in Mexico, which was originally a monastery built by missionaries for the Franciscans during the period of the Spanish conquest, and then was upgraded to the status of a cathedral dedicated to the Patriarch Saint Joseph (St. Joseph's), was one of the first monasteries to arise in Mexico and one of the most representative of that period. Like all buildings erected in this period, it contains a large atrium, with an artificial bridge enclosed by a pop-up wall that can be accessed through a three-hole arch, and in the center of the lobby there is an engraved cross that was erected to commemorate the arrival of the Franciscan missionaries.
