Information about Archaeological Zone of Tula
The city of Hidalgo includes one of the most important and ancient regions of archaeological history, the Tula region, which was in its origin the ruling center of the Toltec people, one of the greatest civilizations in the history of Mexico and Central America. The archaeological site consists of a museum and the remains of a former settlement, as well as the main ceremonial site and theatres. Despite all the ancient and historical relics that the area contains, a major attraction of its own in the Tula region is the Quetzalcoatl Pyramid, topped by four 4-meter (13 ft) basalt columns carved in the form of Toltec warriors. And this adventure cannot be ended without a visit to the Jorge R Acosta Museum, which displays both originals and replicas.
