Sherwani Mosque is located in the Severpaşa district, west of Gaziantep Citadel. As it is the only mosque in historical Gaziantep with a minaret with two balconies, this mosque is also called “the mosque with two balconies” by the locals. This mosque was built by Sherwani Muhammad Effendi, and it is understood from the documents that the mosque was built before 1677, and according to one legend, if the mosque collapsed for any reason, enough gold and silver would be found at its base to be reconstructed.
