The Sigurjón Olafsson Museum houses sculptures and drawings by the sculptor Sigurjón Ólafsson as well as information about the artist. It serves as a center for research into his art, and the museum was founded by the artist's wife in 1984 and operated as a private institution until 2012, after which it became a department of the National Gallery of Iceland. In addition to presenting Segorgon art, it also displays works by other artists, and in the summer houses a weekly concert series that is an essential part of Reykjavik's cultural life.
