The Sierra de las Navajas is a mountain formation located in the southeast of the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, that separates the Mexico Basin from the Tolancingo Valley, which is in turn part of the Meztitlan River Basin. This mountain appears at the tip and middle of Hidalgo, and is of great importance in Mesoamerican archaeology, as it formed one of the main volcanic deposits that were traded in the states of Greater Central Mexico during pre-Hispanic times, and was widely used for the manufacture of Central American weapons.
