Located near Hidalgo, Rancho Santa Elena is a large pine and oak forest reserve with three lakes and many streams. This ecosystem includes 18 species of amphibians and reptiles, 86 species of birds and 17 species of mammals. The reserve offers outdoor activities, ecotourism, and adventures catering to families and active groups, and there are seven sites throughout the park that offer secluded, eco-friendly camping with an accessible water supply, tented tables, and a fire pit with firewood and recycling.
