Seodaemun Independence Park is a park and an important historical and cultural site in Seoul. During the Japanese colonial period, it housed the Seodaemun Prison, where the Japanese imperial authorities arrested and held political prisoners and independence activists in brutal conditions before the liberation of Korea in 1945. Today, the park is home to the Museum of History and Antiquities of the Fighters. Independence, and includes a group of statues of famous Korean personalities.
