The Convent of Santa Clara was built in 1314 by the Holy Queen Isabel de Aragão to replace a small nunnery founded in 1286. It is located on the left bank of the Mondego River in Coimbra. Its proximity to the river has been a source of strength and life for the monastic community. Every day in the city, during the implementation of a restoration project in the nineties of the twentieth century, a group of Gothic architectural structures were discovered that required an archaeological expedition to reveal a vast, diverse and very rich property.
