The Sakip Sabanci Mardin City Museum, which is affiliated with the Sabanci Foundation and has the status of a “private museum”, aims to display and promote the urban formation and living culture of Mardin, while providing a multi-use museum environment with its collection, educational programs, conferences and seminars, and also aims to create a modern and contemporary art platform in Mardin with temporary exhibitions. The museum is distinguished by its historical building with a unique design, which was built in the name of the Knights Barracks in 1889 AD by the governor of Diyarbakir, during the reign of Abdul Hamid (1876-1909), and was used in this way for many years.
