Built during the reign of King João V, and designed by André Soares for José Duarte de Faria, the Palace of Rayo is a fine example of Baroque civil architecture. In terms of design and decoration, the palace has a covered facade With blue tiles, gorgeous flame- and amphora-effect balustrades, wrought-iron and granite balconies, the imposing interior staircase is also noteworthy.
